about

“Deadlights” is the debut single release from Leeds-based alternative rock band Otiks. The song pays homage to the cult Stephen King horror novel and TV Movie 'IT'... What better time then to unleash this rousing, electro-tinged musical beast on the public than just before Halloween?

lyrics

"DEADLIGHTS"

We thought that we'd left it for dead;
But 30 years have passed since then.
We saw the deadlights on its head;
It's making us meet up again.
The losers' club may have grown old.
It's still alive as ever.
The children's bodies may have turned cold,
But i must bring us back together.

And now you've seen inside of me
The deadlights will never set you free
And now you've seen eternity
The deadlights will never set you free

I could have died when that call came through;
I heard the name of that evil clown.
To my brother Georgie, I must stay true
And return to my childhood town.
How could I forget that we'd made this pact?
That we'd stared death in the eye?
I froze with fear and my stutter came back,
I g-g-guess it's t-t-time for another try...

And now you've seen inside of me
The deadlights will never set you free
And now you've seen eternity
The deadlights will never set you free

about

Otiks Leeds, UK

Otiks’ band name is inspired by a cult Czech film about a magical but somewhat gluttonous wooden baby.

Dark-edged and atmospheric, Otiks’ sound draws on various different genres including rock, pop, disco and punk. Some of the band's influences include post-punk bands such as Joy Division, The Smiths and latterly White Lies, as well as other more synth-driven bands such as Depeche Mode
